In 2012 the Art Competition for Schools celebrates its ninth year, and we are delighted to welcome a new title partner. The Tesco Bank Art Competition for Schools hopes to inspire children across the country with the National Galleries of Scotland’s superb collection of artworks.

Over 30,000 children from all over Scotland have participated since 2004.

An exhibition of the winning works from 2011 is on show at Raigmore Hospital, Inverness until 17 January and at Aberdeen Royal Infirmary from 20 January – 24 May 2012 so why not go along and check out the talent on display?

This year’s winning works will be proudly displayed at the newly refurbished Scottish National Portrait Gallery.

With six categories to choose from, clear links to Curriculum for Excellence and fabulous prizes to be won, make sure not to miss the closing date of 4th May 2012.

As part of our partnership with Tesco Bank we’re aiming to widen accessibility to visual art, with a tour of school roadshows to be announced later in the year.

Ppp pick up your pencils ….Art competition

Would you like to see your artwork on sale at the award-winning Scottish Seabird Centre?

The Centre is looking for young artists to come up with a new design for their popular line in tea towels, using the marine life, seabirds and the seaside as inspiration. We are looking for a colourful A4 picture from P1- P7 pupils from across East Lothian.

Judging the Centre’s first ever tea towel design competition will be local artist Jane Alexander who has an eye for young artistic talent.

The winning design will be made into a tea towel which will go on sale in the gift shop: the winner will also receive a bag of goodies from the shop, as will the two runners up.

The closing date for entries is 28 October – schools can have multiple entries, but only one per child. There is no cost for entering. For full terms and conditions, please visit the education section at http://www.seabird.org/education.asp
