Accelerated Reader- Information for Parents

We are now using Accelerated Reader as part of the reading programme of study for primary 4 to 7 pupils. It is an online program designed to motivate children to read and foster a love of books. In the weeks to come your child will be bringing home a letter notifying them of their “ZPD.” This is a numerical score which helps to guide children to make book selections at the correct level. We are currently in the process of colour coding our books in order to help the children with their selection of books. You can click on the above link for more information. Accelerated reader does not replace the teaching of reading skills which are taught in all classrooms at West Barns Primary School.
