Happy Diamond Jubilee Your Majesty.

Lots of the classes have been making celebration cards for the Queen and yesterday four members of P1M had the job of posting them.  We have been learning about weight in maths so this was a good opportunity to put our skills to the test in real life.  First we had to buy the envelope then we addressed it to Her Royal Highness The Queen, Buckingham Palace, London and finally we weighed the package to see how much postage we needed to pay.

Hanging About At Forest Schools

This week was the last week of forest schools for P1M.  We enjoyed using the hammocks and Mrs Wilson- Beales built a campfire for us.  We have to wait until P2 for the marshmallows though!

Life Cycle of Butterflies

Today we have been learning about the life cycle of butterflies.  We read The Very Hungry Caterpillar by Eric Carle then talked about what we knew.  We then headed outside and worked in groups to draw pictures of the life cycle in chalk on the tarmac.

Litter Pick

On Friday 27th April P1M joined forces with their buddies in P6/7 to collect litter from the school grounds.  We collected two bin bags full of rubbish and would like to remind everybody to please use a bin, don’t drop litter!

Making Potions In The Woods

This week at forest schools we learnt about some smelly plants.  Mrs Wilson-Beales showed us wild garlic, mint, rosemary and lavender then we got to make them into a smelly potion.  As it had been raining we also had fun jumping in puddles.

Tree Climbing At Forest School

Monday 23rd April was our first afternoon for forest school.  The class were very excited and talked loudly on the bus all the way there about what they would do when they arrived.  One of the things to do was climb trees and Mrs McIntosh was impressed by everybody having a try.  Here are some photos to show how we go on.

Baby Rabbits

There was great excitement in P1M this morning when our parent helper, Christine, brought in two of her baby rabbits to show us.  They are called Susie and Floppy and are very cute!

Spain attracts record number of tourists!

Hola!  Thank you to all who were able to attend our open morning on Friday.  I’m sure you were impressed by the knowledge the children were able to share about Spain.  In case anybody missed the quiz here are the questions:

1) How do you say hello in Spanish?

2) Who won the football world cup in 2010?

3) What kinds of food do they have in Spain?

4) Who is the Patron Saint of Spain?

5) What colour are the postboxes in Spain?

The correct answers will be revealed at the end of the week.

Here are some photos from the morning.

Fruity Kebab Afternoon

Last Tuesday we invited parents and carers to visit our class and make fruit kebabs with us.  Here are some pictures of us enjoying our kebabs.
