Fairtrade Fortnight 2013

In P5 we have been learning about Fairtrade. We were very lucky to have Mrs Brown visit us to talk about Fairtrade, social justice and the work that goes on in our Parish. Inspired by this, we have created Fairtrade boards for the main entrance to the school. We created posters and pieces of work that illustrate and advertise Fairtrade Fortnight. Come in and have a look OR visit the Tuck Shop where fantastic Fairtrade products are available to buy! Go on take a step towards Fairtrade in 2013!

A Cake for His Eminence Keith Patrick Cardinal O’Brien

What a truly special day!
We were so proud of you all during Mass. Beautiful acting, singing, reading and prayers in a wonderful atmosphere of love, reverence and warmth. Great to have so many visitors too! A day when School, Family and Parish came together to celebrate the Feast of our Patron Saint Gabriel of Our Lady of Sorrows.

A HUGE well done to everyone who contributed to
‘A Cake for Our Cardinal’.
In P2, we decided to use the motto that the Cardinal chose when asked to be Archbishop in 1985: ‘Serve the Lord with Gladness’. A tree, with a branch for each class, symbolises how we grow together in God’s Love and share our talents. We invited pupils from nursery to P7 to come and work on the cake. Can you spot the symbol of your class? In the middle of the tree you will see our new ‘THIS IS our Faith’ book. We also included the Passionist symbol for St.Gabriel and our own school logo. The red ribbon was for our Cardinal, the purple for our school and black for the Passionists.
His Eminence was delighted with the cake and has decided to present it as a gift to The Missionaries of Charity in Edinburgh – Nuns who are part of Mother Teresa’s order.
Hope you enjoyed your cake too!

From all the staff in P2.

Three Cheers for Cake! Mrs Adams let everyone in school see our special cake before we ate it.

A day of smiles and laughter! Here is Father Paul Francis.

Mrs Torley and Mrs Hall present us with our Rosaries- blessed by His Eminence Keith Patrick Cardinal O’Brien.

Talking about symbols.
