Welcome back everyone. I hope you are all well rested and had a fantastic break!
We have only been back 2 weeks and already we have covered so much work!
Starting with our Scots Language week poems and songs. I have been so impressed with how quickly you have managed to pick up ‘The address to a Toothache’ and ‘The deil’s awa wi the Excise man’. Special mention should be made to Erin, Callin, Rebecca, Dylan, Claire, Stephanie and Cameron who managed to learn the first four verses of the poem within the first two days of starting back. I’m hoping that lots of you push yourself this year into trying out new things that you wouldn’t necessarily be comfortable doing, starting with the Scots Language Competition that the school is holding next week. I already have a list of names but I’m always looking for more!
Last week saw the beginning of our P7 Litter Project and didn’t we find some interesting items in and around our playground… We have designed some informative posters and in our pairs we have written up a ‘school improvement plan’ based on our findings. We hope that the other boys and girls in the school find the information useful (if you are in school and interested in what we have written you can find the documents in the P7 Litter Project folder on the server). Our original plan of separating the rubbish to design and make something became quite messy so we decided to stick to cardboard, paper and clear plastic bottles to complete the task! We will upload photos once they are finished.
This week as part of our Rights and Responsibilities work we have been focusing on the following:
1. The Right to an Education.
2. The Right to develop your talents.
3. The Right for a child to live and have a healthy life.
These Rights have fitted in very well with our projects on Scots Language, Eco Litter, Health and Living and Growing. As part of our homework task the children were asked to share these Rights with parents and discuss the responsibilities that are linked to them. As the term progresses this discussion between parent and child should become more regular as we continue to work through the articles.
Our next upcoming project is a musical performance based piece of work titled ‘Burke and Hare’. The children have already began to familiarise themselves with the music. More news on this to follow…
Once again Thank you Primary 7 for all your hard work over the last two weeks. Let’s continue to make the learning fun!!
Mrs.Barry.
