I am writing to say what a fantastic school trip I had when visiting Yellow Craigs this week. The whole school set off first thing for an exciting day, packed full of learning about the sea shore and the habitat it provides for many sea creatures. Our rangers, David and Bill seperated us into groups so that we could complete two activities to help our learning about our sea shore topic. The first activity for the P4-7 class was a beach scavenge hunt where we searched for lots of different artefacts on the beach and made a base with all of our collections. We then had to classify these items. This activity finished when each group had to create a sea creature in the sand using our collected items. What a variety!!!! They were all super, as the pictures show.

After lunch we then went rock pooling in search of sea creatures. We had an identity chart and nets and trays which we used to capture and observe different living things. A few groups even found small Blenny fish and starfish. We all managed to stay dry and everyone worked fantastically in their teams. I have to say that I was very proud to be alongside all of the Stenton pupils today as everyone was willing to participate in all activities (putting in lots of effort) really showing what a great school Stenton is. Can’t wait until our next trip now!!!!! Well done everyone :)

Last week the P6′s had lots of home work. this is because we had to sit our level C maths test to pass.We all passed with flying colours. Hopefully we don’t get to much home work this week. In gym the p4.7′s are doing gymnastics. Last week we did poses which will help us to learn gymnastic routines.

We got to make churches and colour them in. We got to make books and draw pictures in them. Miss Jones was not here so Mrs Dillon played games with us.

In the playground we have been playing a tiger game. In the tiger game Lucy was a baby tiger. Most of the boys were playing rounders.

The best thing that happened this week was the travel agency. In the travel agency we have three hotels in the Dominican Republic to choose from. The travel agents are Arthur, Thomas, Alex and Olivia. Ailsa, Caroline and Emily were the picky customers. We had £2500 to spend on a holiday, I wish we could go for real. Our favourite hotel was the Dream hotel, it had a huge swimming pool and lots of activities.

On Tuesday we have music and the pupil council have requested more popular music including Abba, Disney and the Beatles. WE have already learnt 3 Beatle songs. They were Yesterday, when i am 64, obladi oblada.

On Wednesday we did hockey with Mrs Jones. We played King of the ring but because it was raining we could not go out and the grass was over a foot long. Alex Stuart won! We learnt the Indian dribble, it was harder for the little ones because the sticks were all one size.

On Thursday, the p6 and 7′s started their design process for technology. We had to make our figures out of pipe cleaners, to make sure they worked! On next weeks blog find out how we got on.

Sarah, Cameron and Natalie did key comp and worked on unit 8 and got them all right.  Natalie also did a talk on chocolate nugget slices and everyone got to taste them, they were delicious.  Mrs Smith did a talk on food hygiene and we learned about how to wash our hands, store food and lots of other useful facts.

Other things this week that have been happening are that we have no more reading because we are doing plays each week. This week we are doing the pied piper of Hamlen.
