Queen’s Diamond Jubilee Holiday

Following a recent Council meeting it has been agreed that, in addition to the earlier agreed holiday on Monday 4 June 2012, schools will now also be closed on Tuesday 5 June 2012. All return on Wednesday 6 June.

Remember it’s Literacy Week!

Primary 5/6 were working on creating a cartoon animation this week in I.T, to remind everyone that it’s Literacy week at St Mary’s next week. We found that it takes lots of frames to make a few seconds of cartoon, but everyone enjoyed doing it!

Rag Bag Collection

As part of our on going Eco Development, we have arranged a Rag Bag collection at school on Thursday 9 February 2012.

If you have any unwanted textiles including clothing, paired shoes, bags, hats, towels, soft toys, curtains and linens. in any condition, please put them into bags and send into school during the week beginning 6 February.

We are also collecting for the Book Reuse Scheme so would welcome any unwanted textbooks, general literature and novels.  Please do not send in exercise books, directories, journals, magazines or newspapers.  Please put books into a separate bag to the textiles.

Scottish Week 23rd – 27th January

Our pupils will have several class lessons with a Scottish theme during their Scottish week. We are also holding some whole school events.

Monday 23 January

Walk to Burns Well. Please ensure your child is dressed for the weather on the day.

Tuesday 24 January

Burns Supper. We would like the children to wear something tartan eg a ribbon on their sweatshirt, a kilt or ‘something Scottish’ eg a t-shirt or hat with the saltire on it.

Wednesday 25 January

Reserve date for walk to Burns Well. Scottish Storyteller in school.

Thursday 26 January

Class judging of our annual Scottish poems competition. (Final judging on 31 January).

Friday 27 January

Ceilidh. Can the children wear a piece of tartan, a kilt, or something Scottish?
