We gathered 21kg of litter and some of the unusual bits we found were – a gas cylinder, jumper, dog waste (yuk) not to mention plenty of usual bits such as bottles etc.

Classes have received their potatoes and they are all growing happily in their orange buckets. The potatoes will be dug up and weighed at the end of May or start of June. We had a tour of their outdoor area and had a fantastic time meeting the other children who were very welcoming. We are looking forward to the eco group at St. Martin’s coming to visit us and hopefully we can help them build their plastic bottle greenhouse.

A group made bird feeders to hang up at Fa’side Lodge in Tranent. The group went to the local shops to get the materials and put them together at school before taking them along. Hopefully these will attract all sorts of birds!

Some P6 pupils have been learning about Biodiversity. We took our mini microscope and went to see what was living in our log pile. We found worms and some very fast spiders – everything was very keen to escape! Looking forward to seeing what comes out as the weather gets warmer.
