Well done to all those who took part in the Spring Clean last week. We gathered 21kg of litter and some of the unusual bits we found were – a gas cylinder, jumper, dog waste (yuk) not to mention plenty of usual bits such as bottles etc.

We have managed to grow our own leeks and these have been made into a delicious soup we can enjoy at lunch time in the dinner hall.
Mr Macpherson, the Biodiversity Officer from East Lothian Council, is coming on Tuesday 30th April to talk to all the classes about biodiversity and other Eco issues. We really look forward to his visit.
The potato challenge for this year has begun. Classes have received their potatoes and they are all growing happily in their orange buckets. The potatoes will be dug up and weighed at the end of May or start of June. We will keep you updated on the results.
Today we were delighted to welcome the Eco group from St Martin’s. They came to have a look at our Greenhouse and take some measurements as they are building their own soon. We are looking forward to hearing about how the work is going and they can come back and visit us any time!
A group of P6s went to St. Martin’s to meet their Eco group and to share some ideas. We had a tour of their outdoor area and had a fantastic time meeting the other children who were very welcoming. We are looking forward to the eco group at St. Martin’s coming to visit us and hopefully we can help them build their plastic bottle greenhouse.
We collected 167kg of clothes for the Rag Bag collection and raised £83.50. Thay will go towards buying plants for our various gardens. Well done and thank you everyone who contributed.
Bird Feeders
A group made bird feeders to hang up at Fa’side Lodge in Tranent. The group went to the local shops to get the materials and put them together at school before taking them along. Hopefully these will attract all sorts of birds!
Some P6 pupils have been learning about Biodiversity. We took our mini microscope and went to see what was living in our log pile. We found worms and some very fast spiders – everything was very keen to escape! Looking forward to seeing what comes out as the weather gets warmer.
