Music with P2H

Here are P2H enjoying their weekly music lesson with Mrs Hawthorn.  The children joined in with lots of games to develop skills in  co-ordination, co-operation , rhythm and timing, including ‘Fuzzy Wuzzy’ and walking  ’Mr Wiggle’ and ‘Mr Waggle’  up the hill and down the hill.  In the naming and playing challenge,  the class demonstrated a very good knowledge of the musical instruments. ’Hot Cross Buns’ was another popular activity.  Click on the link to watch the action rhyme.  Hot Cross Buns

JRSO launch ‘Spring Road Safety’.

Spring Road Safety Awareness was the focus of the  JRSO board. ‘Low sun can dazzle drivers, is one of the statements that Caitlin and Greg have placed on their updated information board, to inform children of the hazards that they should be aware of when walking near roads at this time of the year. This week, at the school assembly, the names of the Road Safety competition winners will be announced. The JRSO’s will be running another competition in the summer.  Details to follow on the website.

Line up for ChildLine!

Please help us to support ChildLine!  During Health Week, pupils took part in a Sponsored Line Dancing Event. Ishrat, from ChildLine, led the classes in this new activity by teaching us two line Dancing routines. She praised the pupils for their enthusism and commented on how quick children were to learn these dances.

Please support ChildLine!

ChildLine Scotland is a free 24 hour, all year round helpline for children and young people throughout all of Scotland. Any child or young person can call with any problem at any time. In the last year ChildLine Scotland provided more than 35,000 children with a counselling service. Due to lack of funds some pupils may have to wait to speak to a counsellor. With your support, we can ensure that these children reach the vital support, advice and protection that these counsellors provide.  It is a valuable service and the very fact that so many children phone ChildLine every week, is an indication on how essential and important this service is. Please support the sponsored line Dancing event and return your child’s sponsor forms as soon as possible, preferably before the Easter holidays.

Health Week starts……..!

Monday 28th March was the start of Sanderson’s Wynd Health week. On a beautiful spring morning, the whole school launched the event with an outdoor mass aerobic session led by parent, Fiona Russell. Fiona gave us a big wake up call on this sunny Monday morning by putting us through our paces in a ‘bootcamp’ style work out. Staff, pupils and some parents joined in the action. There was a lot of laughter and fun and we all left the playground red-faced and feeling ready for the week ahead.

Aladdin

On Tuesday, the whole school enjoyed the wonderful pantomime, Aladdin. There was lots of singing, jokes and funny happenings! The children and teachers all joined in with all the fun and laughter.  The pantomime was kindly subsidised by the Parent Council, who also treated everybody to an ice-cream! Thank you from all at Sanderson’s Wynd!

The Wriggly Nativity

P1 and P2 classes performed their nativity to the rest of the school today. Christmas now feels as if it has properly started! Well done boys and girls! You did really well. Your parents will be so proud of you and they will love the Wriggly Nativity too. (See post below for performance times.)
