saltoun primary school is located main street in tranent (EH34 5) in the region of east lothian (scotland). This place is listed in the school category of the geodruid tranent 2013 guide.

I remember school lunch for the week was 45p when I was in P2 and my mum once gave me 50p and said I could spend the extra in the tuck shop – a huge treat. But Mrs Cruickshank didn’t believe me and put it in an envelope to give back to my mum. Not only was I furious and not being believed, but I was also hungry as I had no play piece for that day!
I also remember making mud pies with my Dad’s best construction sand and being in big trouble for that one.
Was I supposed to remember some learning as well?!

I remember my mums reaction to the very large beetle my brother and I found whilst digging in the garden with his Tonka truck. It now lives in our house, the Tonka truck, not the beetle and the digging has been repeated on many occasions. I also remember being sent out of the class at school for laughing when the teacher put the record player on at the wrong speed and the song went really fast. Everyone laughed but I had a fit of the giggles and couldn’t stop, there was also a bit of showing off involved!

HC3S provide a ‘full plate’ service in primary schools, allowing each child to select a main item from the menu, which automatically comes accompanied by carbohydrate, vegetables, and a dessert (fresh fruit is always an alternative dessert option).

I am thrilled to hear how excited the children are about supporting Mary’s Meals. In a previous blog you asked us parents what qualities we hoped our children would gain at Saltoun. Well, I would put compassion and understanding the plight of others high on my list. So……..keep up the good work!
