Здравствуйте России: Our New Topic

On Monday morning our gym hall was filled with excitement and flags from countries all over the world. Every class received a flag to march back to the classroom. We returned with the red, white and blue flag of the Russian Federation, as we had decided that we would really like to learn more about Russia.

Kyle received the Russian Federation flag for P7p.

Then we set about deciding what we already know and what burning questions we want answered. We have lots of questions about Russia’s history, culture and language. You can read some of them below:

What was it like in Russia during World War II?

What was Russia’s role in World War II?

How can you read the letters in the Cyrillic alphabet?

Was Stalin worse than Hitler?

How can the Russians build cathedrals with big domes like St Basil’s?

Why was Ivan the Terrible called terrible?

Why did some countries boycott the 1980 Olympics in Moscow?

These are just some of the questions we will be finding answers to over the next five weeks.
