Kidnapped! Chemical Reactions and Water Filtration

We worked in teams to conduct experiments in class today in order to observe chemical reactions. We hypothesized that vinegar and bicarbonate of soda would bubble (we learned the word ‘effervescent‘) because it gives off carbon dioxide when the two substances are combined. We found: (1) that we were correct and (2) that science is a lot of fun!

Earlier in the week we conducted an experiment to determine which material is best for water filtration. We tested funnels of two sizes, kitchen roll and filter paper. We hypothesized that they would all work, but we found that the funnels were not very effective. The kitchen roll was more effective and the filter paper was most effective. Have a look at our video.
