To finish off our learning about Islam, some Muslim women from an education group called Beyond the Veil came to visit our P2 and P3 classes to help them learn what being a Muslim means to them. They are mostly mums or young women who live in Edinburgh or East Lothian.

The children were intrigued and asked lots of excellent questions. Our visitors were so impressed at how much the children had learnt about Islam and how hard their questions were. It made all we’ve learnt make sense.
Our friend from Prestonpans and Tranent churches, Nicola Bruce, came along too as she wanted to learn more herself. She took a wee video of 2 of the women from Beyond the Veil to show at a PL assembly. A lovely day. Thank you Beyond the Veil.

We are all just back from the recording studio and what a fantastic time we had! We had to sing the song lots and lots of times to make sure everything was just right. We then got to go in to the room with all the buttons to hear what we sounded like.

P2/2 got a chance to share what they have been learning about pirates with all our parents and carers. What a busy afternoon we had with pirate quizzes, searching for treasure, making pirate hats, speaking like a pirate AND even a wee cup of rum and a sea biscuit.

In P2/2 we are learning about directions. In our classroom we have a big grid on the floor and we have been working in pairs to guide each other to the treasure- watching out for the crocodiles! This term our topic is pirates. Today we were investigating pictures of different items pirates would have used. We worked in groups to guess what the items were and how they were used.

In P2/2 we have been learning about how to eat healthily. We had a healthy breakfast taster earlier on in the term and we have also tried out different toppings for our toast.

We tried out banana and honey, butter, marmalade and marmite and cheese. Our favourite was banana and honey!

This term our topic is the weather. Today we were discussing how we can keep ourselves safe in the sun. We tried on lots of sunglasses to help us design our own pair of sunnies! We experimented with different material to see which would be the best for our lenses.
