Our Harvest Festival

Our Harvest Festival on PhotoPeach

What an amazing event today’s Harvest Festival was.  Over 200 adults joined the children and staff to celebrate Harvest. The children sang beautifully and brought so MANY tins and other offerings for our Harvest Table.  Mrs McBirnie announced one child from each class as a Successful Learner this week and Ms Laing gave them a certificate.  Towards the end, we presented Liam with a thank you gift. Liam has been a hugely popular volunteer at our school and  is leaving to go to college.  All the children will really miss him.

Next, about 100 adults stayed for a McMillan Coffee Morning which raised £100 for McMillan Cancer Research.  The children set off to the Johnny Moat to sing and give their harvest gifts.  There’s so many gifts that they are out delivering tomorrow and Tuesday too.

What a generous school community. Thank you all.

Thank you for a lovely welcome on my first day

It was my first day as Headteacher of Prestonpans Infant School today and I had a lovely time from the moment I arrived until the moment I left.  It started when I came into the playground to meet the grown-ups and everyone was very friendly.  I even got my first suggestion from Zoe, which was that it would be nice to have a choice of  uniform colour! I promised Zoe I would blog this by midnight so am keeping my promise.

Over the next few weeks, I’ll be asking you all (children, parents and carers and staff)  what is great about Prestonpans Infants and if there is one thing you would like to change, what would that be? So start thinking about that now.

I went into almost all the classes today.  Most of the children have told me their names and expect me to remember them but that may take me a bit longer!

So thank you all for the lovely welcome. I look forward to meeting you all and to the Parent Council AGM tomorrow night.
