Pupil Council

This year’s Pupil Council met on Wednesday for the first time.  There is a class rep from each class.  P1/6 Ben, P1/5 Sophie, P1/4 Rory, P1/3 Libby, P2/2 Claire, P2/1 Naomi, P2/11 Rachel, P3/10 Arron, P3/12 Ronan.  “Do you have any good ideas to make the school better?” This is what they want:

1.  To post letters to classes at Christmas time.

2.  To play on the grass at breaks.

3. For the P3s to come up the stairs to their classroom a different way.

They have gone back to ask their classes about their ideas and to gather more ideas. They are also asking classes for a better name for our school website.  Favourite option so far is www.weepanners.org (but don’t try it yet, we haven’t bought it!)

You’ve made a good start Pupil Council.

Burmese visitors

2 Burmese headteachers friends of  Ms Laing were visiting Musselburgh and popped along to Prestonpans Infant School to learn about another Scottish school.  They were so impressed with our lovely school, especially the great woods and grassy area we have.  The children and staff welcomed them kindly and the childrencan now speak Burmese – ask them to say hello in Burmese.  And if they get stuck, it’s Minglaba.

Here you can see Thein Naing and Say Hai giving presents to Prestonpans.  They gave us a lovely Burmese painting, which we will hang in the library.

The children gave Thein Naing and Say Hai a certificate and tea towels from Prestonpans Infant School.  It was a lovely morning.  Thank you to the parents who met Thein Naing and Say Hai and were so welcoming too.
