Prestonpans Cluster Summer Transition Programme

Over the last 4 Mondays, a group of around 12 families have met with staff from Prestonpans Infants and St Gabriel’s to prepare for starting P1 on 15 August 2012.
Week 1 was a sports event at St Gabriel’s
Week 2 was a craft event in the Pennypit
Week 3 was in the woods at the Infant School
Week 4 was a day trip to Pilton Retreat in Ratho.

The programme was funded by Prestonpans Early Years Link Up Group of Support from the Start. A huge thanks to all the staff who gave up their holidays to ensure there’s support for starting school for some of Prestonpans’ P1s.

About Sheila Laing

Having lived and worked in West Pilton, Edinburgh for 30 years, I am now really happy to be living in Port Seton and Headteacher of Prestonpans Infant School. What excites me about working in schools is the opportunity to nurture children, families and communities to learn and to celebrate life and learning. Since 2005, I have been inspired by the community of Burmese refugees in Mae Sot, Thailand, who struggle against incredible odds to give the best education possible to their children. I've been honoured to spend time with them each summer and pray the changes in Burma will give freedom to her people.
