As part of our Scotland Topic, some of our boys and girls made Winter Vegetable Soup today. They had a selection of Scottish winter vegetables: carrot, onion, leek, potato, turnip and cabbage.
First they washed their hands, then they washed the vegetables. Then they peeled the skin off the vegetables before chopping them into small pieces – the onions and the leeks made their eyes water! Next they put all the vegetables into a big pot. They added vegetable stock cubes – they were a lovely green colour – before filling the pot with water. Then they put the pot on the cooker and cooked it until all the vegetables were soft. The other boys and girls from the class were then invited into the ‘restaurant’ and they were served a bowl of soup each. Mrs Scott was given a bowl too – just what she needed on this cold day! It was delicious. The best soup she has ever tasted! Well done to our wonderful chefs and Mrs Leitch.
This soup looks delicious! Maybe your class could share the recipe with us and we can try it at home!
