The children were very excited when we discussed the Loch Ness Monster during our Scotland Topic. We learned that Loch Ness is the largest body of water (inland) in the whole of the United Kingdom. It is about 23 miles long, but it is only a mile wide. It is 227 metres deep and has lots of underground caves leading out to the sea. We think that is how Nessie gets in and out of the Loch. We read that if you took all the water from lakes in England and Wales and put it into Loch Ness you could not fill it up! We think that this is why Nessie can hide so easily from us humans – it is so huge she has lots of places to hide.
Have a look at our Loch Ness art. We have added more photo’s today.
I would like to say that I found your discussion on the Loch Ness Monster very fascinating. I was born in Scotland, but for the past 30 years, I have lived 3000 miles away in Ontario Canada. I learned many new things from your “Scottish Topic” and I look forward to seeing more of your pictures. Keep up the good work!
I want to be in class P1/3 so I can play in that castle!!!! It looks so much fun. You guys are so lucky xxx
