Team PLHS Win Design Smash

Congratulations to Team PLHS who were joint winners of the first ever Heriot Watt University Design Smash. Finlay Richardson, Craig Munro, Adam Vince, Euan Russell and Chris Berg were challenged to redesign Leith Walk. Supported by architects, health specialists and urban planners the team came up with a design to give the area a new identity and purpose.

The design incorporated pedestrianising Leith Walk, regenerating shopping areas and putting in place wifi and solar charging points along a tree lined avenue. Judges were impressed with how well the team explained their ideas and how well they had incorporated the needs of a wide range of user groups.

Competing teams from Edinburgh Academy, Inveralmond HS, Bathgate Academy, Wallace HS, Queen Anne HS, Wester Hailes Education Centre and Boroughmuir HS.

West Hailes were joint winners with all winning team members receiving £50 Amazon Vouchers each.
