School Information

Pinkie St Peter’s Primary is a non-denominational school serving the eastern area of Musselburgh, which includes the communities of Pinkie Braes, Windsor Park and Levenhall.

St Peter‘s Episcopal Church established a Day School in 1871 in a building which stood on the site of No 2 High Street. In 1884 the school was re-established in the old St. Peter‘s Chapel in Millhill. The church handed over control of the school to the Education Authority in 1919. The present building was opened by the late Queen Elizabeth, the Queen Mother, on 14th August 1956 and was called “Pinkie St Peter’s”. The school was named after the Battle of Pinkie which took place nearby on 10 June 1544.

There are 12 classes in total, running from P1-7, with a Support Base attached for children with Additional Support Needs. In line with East Lothian’s policy on Inclusion, these children are part of mainstream classes and participate in a variety of activities with their classmates. The roll at present is 289, with children coming from a wide range of backgrounds. Although there is no nursery linked to the school, the majority of our pupils come from Levenhall Nursery, which is in our catchment area.
