Water homework task

Just incase you forget – here is the water homework. Remember you do not complete all of it, choose 3.Water Homework
Choose any three out of the four tasks and try to complete one each week. All three completed tasks are to be handed in by Thursday 9th February.
Task 1
Find out about a water charity and make a poster to promote it. Your poster should include pictures and information.
Task 2
Look for photographic evidence of how water is collected in other countries. Not everyone can turn on a tap to get fresh water! Write a sentence to explain your photograph (or picture if you are copying it from a book).
Task 3
Find, and be able to talk about a newspaper story that mentions water pollution.
Task 4
Make a water diary to show how many times in one day you use water.

Scottish Homework

In class we have been learning about the Scots. We were given a homework task to research and make a poster about a famous Scot. I did James Maxwell. He was the first person to use differential equations to describe electromagnetism.

In maths we were given times tables timed challenges. We had to time ourselves answering 50 times table questions. I did them in 5 minutes and 21 seconds.

Mary Queen of Scots

We have been asked to do some homework about a famous Scot. We had to find out the date of birth, date of death and where the person was born. I am sure that everyone enjoyed the task. I did my research on Mary Queen of Scots, it was very interesting. One fact I found out was that she took her dog (Sky Terrier) to her execution.

Updating P4

Primary 4 have all worked so hard on the Titanic missions. The art and writing on display is marvellous and everyone should be proud of all they have done. After the holidays we will be finding out about water – uses and pollution.

It’s our party on Wednesday. Anyone going home to get changed into party clothes must have a letter saying that is their plan. We already know how good the Scottish dancing is, and the party should be lots of fun.

Swimming starts on Wednesday 11th January for those (in 4A and 4B) who didn’t start in August.

Have a lovely holiday.

boarding the ship

Dear Fraser,
I am missing you lots and lots. When I saw the ship, it was gigantic. I felt scared and nerve racked. I got a first class ticket. I thought first class would be luxurious with all those chandeliers and china ornaments. The funnels were enormous and the deck was really big. I bet the engines were massive.
When I got inside I was amazed. When I got in my cabin I felt like I was a t home. I had a big soft bed, it felt like velvet. My wall paper was gold and silver. The floor was wooden and it had a big cosy rug. The swimming pool was heated but I prefer the squash court. The Captain had medals, he was in a blue suit. The chandeliers were sparkly blue, green, gold, red and silver. The toilet was sparkly white. I saw the crew and they had bunk beds.
Tod had a teddy bear with him.

Titanic sinking

When I first heard that the Titanic was going to sink, I didn’t believe it. Then the water was racing in and I couldn’t believe my eyes. I ran and ran up to the deck. There was one lifeboat left. It was almost full – it had one seat left so I ran, but someone pushed me out the way. I jumped into the water and swam to a lifeboat and they pulled me up. I sat next to a lady and snuggled up to her and got warm. My mum and my sister were on a different lifeboat and I was terrified. I could still hear the music and the chandeliers crashing. I heard screams. Loud screams and I saw the beautiful ship going down.

Olivia’s Titanic letter

Dear Granny,
I was on the Titanic. It was fancy in the ball. I was wearing a nice dress.
I heard a bump at the front. There was some water at the bottom of the stairs. It was getting higher and higher. I was running up the stairs. I was terrified and frightened as well. My brothers Ben and Owen were scared as well. There were chandeliers crashing and banging. People were escaping. People were calling for help – come and rescue me.
I was trying to get on a lifeboat but people were pushing me out the way. I almost went into the water. Someone grabbed me and then I was on a lifeboat. I saw the Titanic. I was looking at the Titanic sinking.

from Hollie’s Titanic diary

I never thought the Titanic would sink, but I was wrong. I was up having a chat and a drink when suddenly I dropped the glass. My chandelier started to sway from side to side. I wondered what was happening. I raced to the door. I heard a big whoosh underneath me. I thought I’d better get out of here as quick as I can. I rushed down the corridor and I ran up the stairs. I heard water behind me. My heart started to thump even faster now. I reached the deck and saw the iceberg.
I suddenly saw a lifeboat just about to be lowered down. I ran to it (and I said please let me on the lifeboat. No said the man, there is a long queue). I was so scared now. There was pushing and pulling to get to the front of the line. At last it was my turn to get on a lifeboat and it was the third one. I got on the first seat and a little boy came and sat next to me. He hugged in to me.

Titanic

I never thought it would sink. I was getting ready for a party when all of a sudden my chandelier started to go this was and that. It went faster. Jay came running up to tell me the Titanic was going to sink. I got a little blanket for Nina and then I went outside to the deck. I saw people jumping into the lifeboats.
Jay went to go and get the puppies. Water was crashing down the corridor. I ran as fast as I could. I saw the water. I was terrified. We all jumped on the third lifeboat. I put on my life jacket. My life jacket hurt me on the chin.
We went on the last two spaces left on the lifeboat. We got lowered down onto the water. We all turned around because we heard a big splash – the Titanic broke in half. All of us who were in the lifeboat paddled in the middle of the ocean. I stopped paddling for a while. I snuggled up to jay and Nina. I was so cold because I was in my lovely long dress.
