We were really lucky today to have a visit from a Scottish Storyteller, who amazed and scared us with stories all about Halloween, even Miss Capewell and Miss Cran jumped at the scary parts!

During Whitecraig Health Week one of the many activities the children enjoyed was rugby with Gavin.  The children participated in numerous wide games, which all focused on particular  rugby skills. During Health Week at Whitecraig the children who are participating in the Scottish Cycling Proficiency scheme focussed on bike maintenance.  Dr Bike taught them the process of how to repair a punctured wheel.  The children shared their own knowledge and soon got working in groups to remove the tyre,  locate and repair the puncture. During Health Week at Whitecraig all the teachers have put on activities to raise awareness of both the physical and mental benefits of exercise.  Miss MacNair is a Zumba fanatic, so offered to run Zumba classes which went down a storm! P4/5 thoroughly enjoyed their drumming lesson with our music specialist Miss Ireland.  Miss Cran joined P4/5 and was so impressed that she thought it should be shared with everyone!
It has been rumoured that P4/5 may be sharing their drumming skills with the parents very soon!

P4/5 and P6/7 were set a challenge as part of their health week activities.  Working as a class they had to try and fit their whole class on a small area, each time they achieved the task their area was reduced in size.
Those that planned well achieved much!!

Today the upper primary thoroughly enjoyed a training session teaching them some of the basics of American Football with Tom. Miss Taylor, Miss Cran and Tom were all very impressed with the raw talent hiding at Whitecraig……the girls certainly gave the boys a run for their money! Whitecraig P7 were joined by other P7s from Campie and Stoneyhill today at Musselburgh Grammar to solve a murder! Taking all the evidence into account and carrying out experiments they worked extremely well, listening to their instructions learning the names of science equipment, how to work a Bunsen burner and indeed using chemicals safely. Last week Fergus and Taylor visited Musselburgh Grammar to work alongside sixth year students in a cookery competition. They had a great time and as you can see picked up a few tips from their mentors.

The Role Models and Museum topic we’ve covered recently inspired Miss Cran to go searching through her attic for toys,  comics and annuals she had as a child……….quite a few years ago!!!! A small group of P6/7′s took to the slopes last night.  We had our first ski lesson at Hillend after school and thankfully the weather was kind to us.
