Meeting 12 November 2008

Summary

HMI Inspection

Publication of the report expected early December, thanks to all parents who completed a questionnaire or met with the Inspector.

Curriculum for Excellence

We had a very informative presentation from Catherine Jack about how the school is rolling out the new thematic approach to teaching and learning.  We will be providing more information soon but in the meantime follow the links on our website.

Homework Task Force

Following the homework survey at Parent’s Evening in March the school is looking for parent volunteers to join teachers and pupils on a Task Force to look at our homework policy.

“Efficiency Savings”

We will be circulating information on how you can have your say about the proposed cut of 2.25% to the school budget and take part in the East Lothian Council “You Pay – Now Have Your Say” consultation.

Playground developments

We have applied for funding from the Lottery and if we are successful we are planning some exciting new playground developments in the New Year.  Please have a look at our plans displayed outside the Assembly Hall.

Parent Council Newsletter

We are about to launch the first issue of our Parent Council newsletter, look out for it in your children’s school bags.

PTA 1995 Club

Fancy the chance of winning a cash prize each month?  It is only 50p to join the 1995 Club and all proceeds go to support the school.  Ask your Year Rep or in the office for more information and an application form.

Full minutes, when available, can be accessed on the parent zone of the school website: www//edubuzz.org/blogs/longniddry or from the school office.

Next meeting is on 14 January at 7pm in the staff room
