Classes de Découverte
Our P7 classes are all just back from camp or off to camp soon and in France the CM2 ( what they call their P7 classes) all get the chance to go off with their “copains” too! Gullane’s link school went off on a “classe de neige” to the Alps! You can see their photos on their blog. Law’s link school have been spending the week in Alsace – a beautiful region in the north-east of France. You can see their photos too. Storks are the emblem of Alsace. They return every year and announce the coming of spring (just like we know that when the geese come in it is soon going to be winter!) There was concern about their numbers recently so stork parks were developed to help protect them. The storks build enormous nests on the roofs of houses and churches and yes ..even on cranes and pylons! Listen out for the fantastic clacking noise they make!
Bienvenue à Law Primary!
The pupils from the Collège Julien Franck came to visit us on Friday morning. We held an assembly with a Scottish flavour for them. They arrived to the sound of the pipes as members of the North Berwick Pipe Band had very kindly come to play the pipes for them. One of our pupils is the Drum Major and she taught the French pupils all the Scottish words, which they had to repeat of course – sporran, kilt, mace (they did very well!) She went on to demonstate how she led the band with it and we were very impressed! We had our Scottish dancers who danced beautifully and we told them all about Robert Burns and the Burns Supper. It was lovely when we discovered that even though we had no birthdays at Law this week, it was the birthday of twins, Laure and Marion - so we all sang “Joyeux Anniversaire” and our Law birthday song. Our pianist even found a piece of music by a French composer to play for them. We then went into our classes to talk to them a little in French. We had lots of questions we wanted to ask! After that we went out and played football and basketball with them. Bravo à tous et un grand merci à North Berwick Pipe Band et à tout le monde au Collège Julien Franck! On s’est bien amusés et ..à la prochaine fois! Voici quelques photos!

Les élèves du Collège Julien Franck nous rendent visite!
Some of us are hosting French visitors this week. All very exciting! NBHS have an exchange with the Collège Julien Franck in Champigneulles which is in Lorraine in the north-east of France. (Law and Gullane write to their feeder primaries) They are bringing us some letters from our penfriends and we are really looking forward to meeting them and practising our French for real!
Maybe we could learn this song from Lorraine. They will all know it “En passant par la Lorraine” (avec mes sabots means with my clogs on).
Joyeux Noël et Bonne Année!
Un petit message de Noël de l’Ecole Jean Moulin – SURPRISE!

Bisous de Champigneulles
The pupils from the Ecole Jean Moulin have left some lovely comments for us on our recent posts. They liked our French accents when we sang “Sur le pont d’Avignon“ and they liked our Christmas cards too and are looking forward to getting them “Nous avons écrit nos cartes de Noël“. They have also told us that they celebrate “La Saint Nicolas” in Champigneulles (to see photos).
They have drawn some lovely Christmas cards for us which you can see on their site.
Merci beaucoup! Joyeux Noël et tous nos meilleurs voeux pour 2009!
Savez-vous planter les choux?
