Religious Buildings Visits

 

 

 

On Tuesday all primary 5 pupils visited the Edinburgh Mosque and Synagogue. We have been learning about different religious buildings and it was great to see everything in real life. We all learned a lot. Thank you to our guides for showing us round and making it really interesting for us.

  1. The mosque was good and a lady that goes to the gave us a tour.
    2 things I learnt before I went there was …….
    1.you need to take of you shoes before you go in the prayer hall.

    2. there is always a crescent moon and a star.

  2. The whole of p5 went to a mosque and a synagogue. First 5a went to the mosque and 5b went to the synagogue . In the mosque we saw were the Muslims pray to g*d this is the way Muslims spell god. In the synagogue we saw the wall of remembrance.

  3. The visit to the mosques and synagogues was a good visit.
    Here are some things I learned
    You have to take your shoes of before going in a mosque.
    In a synagogue the Torah scroll is sacred and they are not allowed to touch it.

  4. The mosque and synagogue were both intresting I liked the synagogue the best becauseit was more intresting and looked nicer.

  6. I think it was good fun visiting the mosque and synagogue I learnt lots of fact and I have not been in a mosque or synagogue before

  7. The Religious buildings visit was so interesting. Here are some things I learned
    1. That in a traditional Mosque woman have to stand on a balcony.
    2. In a Jewish tradition the woman are more important than the men.
    3. In a Mosque a woman cannot be a minster.
    Thank you to all the parents and teachers who helped we could not of done it without them !

  8. In a Mosque I learned that there is special mats that you set on and pray and there is a thing called the mimbar what the minister stands on and reads out the holly book to the Jews and thank you to all the parents for very big help.

  9. When we went to the mosque and synagogue you had to take your shoes in both buildings and in a mosque there is a wash which you do before you pray and also in a synagogue they read there prayer book from right to left.

  10. The religious building visit was really fun it was really quite and we all got to see the Torah it was really exiting.

  11. I thought visiting the mosque and synagogue was really interesting because we learned loads of facts that i never knew before and i liked seeing around the mosque and synagogue. It was really weird from the outside of the synagogue because it just looked like a normal building! but when you got inside it looked like a real synagogue!!

  12. We went to visit a Mosque and a synagogue in one day! They were both in Edinburgh and the synagogue looked like an old building and people thought that it was an old building! In the Mosque you had to take your shoes off. I liked the Mosque the best because we learnt about the prayer hall.

  13. I Really liked the mosque and synagogue visit because it was very informative and we learned things we never knew before. The mosque was quite impressive from the outside, but it was plainer when we got inside. It was the exact opposite with the synagogue though!

    It was very interesting, it was like being a muslim or a jew! Thanks to all the parent helpers, we couldn`t of done it without you!

  14. Before we visited the mosque and synagogue we had to learn about them. It was amazing when we went because first of all we were learning about them and then going to the actual building.

  15. The two things I learnt about the mosque were… you are not allowed to keep your shoes on in the building and there are six clocks in there. The two things I learnt about the synagogue were… The men have to were kippas and muslims use that as a school.I thought that the Mosque and Synagogue visit was really good and I want to go there again.

In the Mosque I leaned that you have to you sit on mats and pray on them and you have to wash certain parts of your body’s and I loved that very much and for the Synagogue I leaned that any age people can pray and if your in school and its time to pray then you ask your teacher to go up to and ask to go to a quite place and pray there and I loved that as well.

    Two things I learnt about Mosques…

    1.In a Mosque the toilets are a hole in the ground.

    2.In a Mosque ther are different times to pray.

    Two things I learnt about Synagogues…

    1. You have to take your shoes of to enter the Main Prayer Hall.

    2. You need to wash certain parts of your body before prayer.

    I thought this trip was very interesting.

  18. Primary 5 went to visit a Mosque and a Synagogue. Two things I learned at the mosque were the toilets are on the floor and you must take of your shoes before you enter. Two things I learned at the Synagogue were you’re not allowed to touch the Torah (bible) and everyone there is a Jew.
