P5 Beach Clean

P5 went in 2 groups to go on a beach clean. The first group went with Mrs Macniven and the second group went with Mrs Lima. We went down to the West beach with Jenny with gloves, plastic bags & litter pickers. We went down they’re for an hour. We used the plastic bags to store the litter in and the litter pickers were used for picking up the litter. The first group had a lot of litter and the second group didn`t have as much. The tide was in and all the litter was wet. The tide was splashing and crashing almost on top of us.  We had 3 parent helpers per group. It was really fun and quite cold. We all collected a lot of rubbish. The rubbish was hidden in very strange places like in the plants. The rubbish was stuff like cigarettes and empty fish and chip boxes. It was fun and we would like to say a big thanks to everyone who helped.  We are excited about doing the next beach cleans.

Sea Creature I.P.R.

In P5 we were doing an imagined personal response. I.P.R for short. We were writing a day in a life of a sea creature we made aquarium labels to help us. We made up Latin names, what our sea creatures like to eat, why you shouldn’t touch them and their special  features.

We had four paragraphs in the story. In the first paragraph we had to write about where we live and who lives around us. Example, pets, family and friends. You had to describe who you lived with.

The second paragraph was about describing what was on our aquarium label. Where we wrote what we eat, where we live and why you wouldn’t want to stick your hand in the water and touch your creature.

In the third paragraph we wrote about creatures that live in the rock pool. Like celebrities, enemies, friends and family. For example Seamon Cowell for Simon Cowell. Then we wrote about where that creature lives, what they eat and what they like to do.

In the fourth and final paragraph we described your predators like seabirds, humans and other creatures in the rock pool.  We also used a closing sentence. Later we edited one of our paragraphs. We had to really think about what we had learned in class and down at the rockpools about the lives of sea creatures and put oursleves in their shoes.

Homelessness – Middle Area Christmas Service 2011

At the Christmas service there was a lot of singing and also a little play.  P5a did a Brazilian song  Feliz Natal which is silent night. Each class had something to do. Everyone had something to say as well as something to do it was fantastic! You had to speak very loudly in the church because it was quite a big place and there were lots of adults and also little children who definitely enjoyed it.  Some people recited part of a poem.  It was quite scary standing in front of everyone because as we said there were a lot of little children and adults!  It was very loud and fun.

Mrs Barlow was playing the piano and Mrs Lima was playing the clarinet and also the guitar. We were really nervous when we got up but then we felt much better that we’d done it.  It was really fun listening to the music that Mrs Lima was playing with Mrs Barlow.

We loved singing all the songs and having a big round of applause at the end.
