Badminton Festival and Bike Check Demo

Well all primary 5 pupils had a very hectic day today which started at the Sports Centre with a badminton festival. We had lots of helpers from the High School and Telford College and it was very busy and great fun. We all managed to learn a lot of new skills.

Then this afternoon we had a visit from Dave about how to make sure our bikes are safe to ride around on. Everyone was given a handout to take home explaining about Ready, Steady, bike. A healthy schools programme that we can take part in during May in the school playground.

This course is great preparation for cycling proficiency in primary 6 and the school is ecnouraging all pupils to take part. Unless a pupil has completed the Scottish Cycle Training, we ask that an adult accompanies them to and from school on their bike.

For homework tonight Thursday 29.4.10 you will be writing a comment with two sentences. One exeplaining what you enjoyed and learned from the badminton festival and one sentence explaining what you learned about bicycle safety in school today.

We will be looking at them in class tomorrow.

HOWDY FROM THE USA!

Hello to primary 5C and all other pupils and teachers in primary 5. I am so sorry not be able to start the final term with you and am really missing you all and hearing all about your easter holiday adventures. Unfortunately due to the volcanic eruption I have not been able to get home and am having quite an unexpected adventure of my own.

There are thousands of people here in Florida trying to get back to Europe but the American Airlines and people have been so kind and helpful. The person who we are renting an apartment from has let us stay as long as we want and we are right on the beach not far from Kennedy Space Centre. Yesterday  was a very exciting day here as the Challenger Space Shuttle returned home from its mission in space and landed at the Space centre. There was a loud sonic boom as it approached and everyone was very excited.

We are spending our time checking in with the airport everyday, on the phone trying to get a flight, walking miles along the beach and reading lots of books. I am on my 12th novel now. How many books did you mange to read during your holiday?

I know you will all be on your best behaviour and working really hard for the teacher who is looking after you and I am hoping to be back with you next week. I am getting really homesick now and wanted to let you all know that I am missing you.

Hope to see you soon from  Mrs Macniven

I am staying on the East  side of the ” pan handle” (right) in a place called Melbourne. I know you are looking at weather this week so have attached a link to the weather forecast here.
