John Muir Drama

Primary 5 have been learning about John Muir’s childhood through drama. Drama teacher Marjory Sweeney has been teaching the children about John’s life at home and at school in the 19th Century. The children had great fun acting out some of the fun and adventurous things John and his brother used to get up to behind his faither’s back!

Here are some of the plays the children made up:

Marjory gets ready to tell a few stories to the children in her role as John Muir.

Marjory

Scene 1: John aged 3 goes out for a walk in the woods with his grandfather. He wants to take the mice he finds home but his grandfather said “Leave them be. Nature should be left alone in its rightful home”

Scene 2: John and Davey ask to go to the rockpools to play but they end getting very muddy and get into big trouble with faither.

Faither’s telling off

Scene 3: John and Davey play ‘skoochers’ when they should be sleeping in bed! Faither is NOT happy!

Skoochers

Scene 4: At school, Mr Sidins is not impressed with their maths skills! The children leave at the end of the day BUT they soon run back to school having seen…The Dandy Dochters!

Mr Sidins

Are you sitting comfortably?

Primary 4 welcomed storyteller Colin Mackay to Law Primary last week.  We listened really well so that we could re-tell them to our parents and Primary 7 in one class and Primary 5 in another.   Many thanks for listening so well. You were brilliant!

Welly Dance!

WelliesPrimary 5 are taking part in a Sponsored Welly Dance!!

During Golden Time on Friday 2nd November, the P5s are going to put on their wellies and have a ten minute dance to raise money for FARM-Africa They are an organisation who help farmers and herders in East and South Africa to grow their crops and look after their animals so that they can look after themselves.

To raise money for Farm Africa, the P5s need sponsorship from their families. They need a minimum of one sponsor and a maximum of 5 sponsors per child. There is no set amount so please sponsor the amount you feel is correct for this event. There will be other events on during the Friday but you do not need to provide your child with any more money than the sponsored amount.

Your child should wear their wellies (if they have any…if not, walking boots will do) and their normal school uniform. Get practising your dance moves, P5!

The money raised must be handed into the school with your child by Friday 2nd November at the latest.

Monsters Inc. in P5!

Primary 5 Update!

Monsters Inc. in P5!

Shrek, Sully, Doctor Who eat your heart out! Today P5 were building monsters!

Edinburgh University have come to visit us today (Tuesday 25th). Lara was sent to teach us about Genes. No not those jeans that you wear…GENES that make you who you are! We had to pick which characteristics were stronger than others and BUILD A MONSTER! We had to pick tummies, claws, eyes, etc to make our monsters! Amelie and Zak got to dress up in silly costumes but it was great fun. They had helpers who went to different tables to select the different genes.  dscf0583.JPG
