On Saturday 28th April we held our annual Spring Fair. Parents, carers and children braved the cold and came along to support the school. We were pleased that the local police were able to come along too – the children loved looking inside the please van and sounding the sirens!
There was lots to do at the fair, traditional games for the children tested throwing skills – Mr Whiteside’s coconut stall is always a favourite. There was bric a brac for sale including some lovely toys and books. The PTA ran an excellent bike stall – a great way to recycle out-grown bicycles and scooters. There were stalls selling home baking stall and a bottles stall and a raffle – always very popular.
The children made items to sell at the fair; the nursery children decorated flower pots and planted sunflowers, Primary 1 children tried their hand at jewellery making, the primary 2 children came up with a range of ideas making beautiful brooches and pictures and some very useful magnetic pegs. Primary 3 children made wonderful woolen pictures which were quite tricky to make but turned out very well.
This year we tried to improve the cafe experience – we sold Fairtrade coffee, tea and hot chocolate accompanied by Fairtrade biscuits, bars and chocolate crispies.
Well done to everyone and a great big THANK YOU for your support – we are grateful for all the donations of items and of course time! As usual the face painting was hugely popular, thank you to the parents who helped out here – great handiwork!
Thank you to the pupils of Knox Academy Duke of Edinburgh Award group for their help on the games stall!
