The Gullane Goose magazine is amazing, we all worked really hard to design it. Thanks to Miss Kain and Amy for helping us out.

Doctor Who script-to-screen

June 17th, 2011

Recently there has been an EXCITING doctor who competition on for schools: What you had to do, in a group of two – four you had to write a 3 minute script (based in the TARDIS, including a Judoon, Cybermen, Weeping Angel or Odd (Or all of them), and/or with  a brand new character). The script had to be handed in before the 13th of  June. There could only be one entry per school and P6 were the only class to do it. Me (Lee) and my partner Rhona decided to do the script, hand it in, and hope that ours got sent off. In the end it did. Now, I will tell you the prize. Loads of schools around Britain would of handed in a Script. The Doctor Who team will pick 10 school and decide the winner out of them. So, the winning script gets a great prize: The School representatives (Me and Rhona in this situation) would go down to Cardiff, with a school teacher and one of the Child’s parents.  The script would then get made to life and me and Rhona would get filmed in the making of. The script would then be broad-casted on Doctor Who Confidential. Hopefully our script does well!!! :)

Online School Magazine

May 21st, 2011

Tuesday was really fun doing the Online School Magazine. We all got our jobs, which was cool!:)  In case you didn’t hear, one of the competitions is to write a short story or poem and give it to either Struan or me (lee). It would be really fun if you wrote a story.

Have fun!:)

Broomlee Report

May 12th, 2011

On the 5th of may 2011, primary 6 went for a adventure day at the Broomlee centre, 14 miles sounth from Edinburgh. We went for a day, we were in 3 groups with around 9 people in each, each group did 4 activities during the day.

I came of the bus with my bag hanging on my back, we walked into the centre, going past many dorms and wooden buildings as we went, we came into the centre of Broomlee and were split into groups, i went in a group with Mrs Maciver and a woman named Liz, she led me and the group over to the flying fox, she talked us through the safety devices and what to do.

Abbi went first, you had to climb up a blue cargo net that got very narrow by the top to get up onto the platform, I stood and watched as I was second, Abbi went down it screaming her head off, When Liz told me to I climbed up the net, it wasn’t very hard for me but some people found it hard, I got to the top, Liz asked me how I wanted to get off the platform, I decided to step off, I hesitated but then stepped off, I went flying down the line very quickly, I couldn’t help but smile as it was alot of fun, I stepped onto the stepladder-like-thing then unclipped myself and walked down, I then sat and waited as everyone else went, I helped with the stepladder and running the rope back up to the platform alot as-well.

We had our snack, I had some pombears, before heading to our next activity, the nightline. We walked to a football pitch, first we got into partners, I was with William, one person put on a mask that acted as a blindfold, the unblindfolded one had to lead the other to a tree near the pitch and let them study it without vision, we then had to walk back to Liz and had to guess what tree it was, then we switched over, I was blindfolded and William led me to a tree, I felt it and noted the branches and other features, then I was led back, we both got the trees right first time.

Next we did a game called robots, one person wore the blindfold and stood in a circle, two other players stood outside the circle facing eachother, one player has his/her back to the circle and shouts out directions to the person in the circle, the other is facing the circle but cannot speak directly, the two players must guide the other to pick up some blue balls, though there was other people in the circle and only 5 balls to get.

At first, william was the ‘robot’, I faced the circle and Mrs Maciver who was partenered with us could speak. William managed to pick up 2 balls then we switched, I was the robot and willima was facing the circle, Mrs Maciver stayed in the same place. It was quite strange not being able to see, but I followed my partners directions exactly, and even though all I saw was darkness I got 2 of the blue balls.

Next Mrs maciver was the robot and I was shouting the direction while William stayed in the same position, Mrs maciver got 3 of the balls getting us to win ever single time. Next though, we had to do the nightline, we all put blindfolds and helmets on apart from Liz and Mrs Maciver who watched over us, we were led into the woods and our hands where placed on a line of string, I was the second to the back, the person at the front had to tell everyone else what was coming up as we went over, under and through obstacles, all I could see was black, I was relying on everyone else to tell me what was coming up and they did, we all safely navigated the obstacles, near the end the person at the front was swapped and I was placed in the middle of the line.

When we reached the finish we took off our helmets and masks and walked back to the centre, we played a few games and had our lunch there, then we went off to the pole climb with Bob, he was very friendly and kind, we got to the pole climb my confidence dropped, it was a pole with wooden hand and footholds, you had to get to the top, stand on a wobbly small, square platform and jump off. most people did it but I couldn’t, I climbed up, pretty much to the top but then my nerves took ahold of me and I jumped down, it was still incredibly fun though.

The others went and William went again as he didn’t make it to the top either, but he still didn’t manage it, one more person could go but despite me having the option twice I didn’t want to try again. After this we had a afternoon snack, before we went to the ‘mohawk walk’ we got to play on a large roundabout like thing that was very fun, then we walked over to the mowhawk walk, we put on helmets and got a few minutes to practice, it was a course where you used different things to help you walk across sections of rope not that far off the ground, the things to help you get across included bungee rope, rope swing-like-things, and a rope that you had to pull towards you very tight so it would actually give you some grip.

We were then put into two teams, we started from the same place but went opposite ways, they had easy ones first and we had hard ones first, we met them slightly before half way for us and slightly more fore them, the ones after that seemed like childs play compared to the hard ones, we ended up winning as every time anyone fell off we had to stop for 10 seconds and they fell off alot, it was still very close though.

After this we played around a bit before going back to the centre and waiting for everyone else, when they got there we all got back into the bus and drove back to Gullane.

Sun at last!

April 10th, 2011

I think we’re probably all enjoying the holidays with the sun. I know that I am. School’s a LOT better with sun. Nice and warm for everyone. Can’t wait for summer, I can finally wear: dresses, skirts, shorts and t-shirt and my flip-flops! Hopefully when we go back to school it’s nice weather all term.

Hockey + Bowls

April 9th, 2011

Hockey was really fun. Usually I don’t like it but this time it was enjoyable. I was quite good, i have to say at tackling.

Bowls was awesome. When the target came out though i could’nt get the bowl on any of the numbers. I got to go two times because one group needed an extra person, but out of two times  i only landed on 1 number= Number 3!!! Before the target came out, i was good at rolling the bowl, near the white ball at the end: if that makes sense. :) :)

Holidays + Easter Eggs

April 9th, 2011

Glad it’s the holidays, but will miss school a bit.  It’s fun learning things every day. Keeps you busy. Time flies buy. 6 hours goes fast!

Was really fun designing our Easter Eggs. I really enjoyed making mine. Don’t know who to give it to though. Might keep it! lol! I can remember thinking when we first found out that we were going to design them: “Mine will be a disaster!” Turned out just the way i liked it. :) :)
