During the recent upgrade to Office 2010 it has been brought to light that many staff are saving their files locally onto the computer. Yes, it’s handy to see the file you want sitting on the desktop but you run the risk of losing everything if the hard disk on your computer fails. There is no comeback if this happens; files will be irretrievably lost.
To save your files safely, click on My Computer and save to your personal ‘Z’:/Drive or to the school shared area on the ’S':/ drive. These files are now secure. You can still keep a copy on your desktop but please take the time to back them up by saving to a network drive.
