14/1/2012 Private bank closes Edinburgh office Private bank Kleinwort Benson has closed its office in Charlotte Square in Edinburgh city centre. It is not known how many jobs have been lost. The Herald

 13/01/2012 RBS announces job losses The Royal Bank of Scotland has announced that it will shed 3,500 jobs in the UK in its global banking and markets division over the next 3 years. The division has offices in Edinburgh, London, Manchester and Stoke. Daily Express

10/01/2012 Travelodge to open new hotels in Scotland Budget hotel chain Travelodge will open 2 new hotels in Edinburgh creating 50 jobs and a hotel in Fort William which will create 15 jobs. The hotels are expected to open within the next year. The hotel has looked into 13 other sites where hotels may be opened over the next few years. The Scotsman

 07/01/2012 Blacks Leisure Group bought over by JD Sports  JD Sports has been confirmed as the buyer of the Blacks Leisure Group, who had recently gone into administration. It is not yet known the number of stores that have been taken over or the number of jobs saved. Press and Journal
