31/12/2011 Toy retailer in administration Toy retailer Hawkin’s Bazaar has gone into administration over the Christmas period. Around 380 jobs are now under the threat of redundancy in the UK. The Herald
29/12/2012 Clothing retailer in administration Clothing retailer D2 Jeans has closed 19 stores in Scotland resulting in 200 employees being made redundant. Administrators are now trying to find a buyer for the other 28 stores. Dundee Evening Telegraph
20/12/2011 Trainee teacher numbers to increase in Scotland Michael Russell, the Education Secretary has revealed that the Scottish Government will train 300 extra teachers in Scotland by 2013. The Herald
15/12/2011 Thomas Cook to close 200 UK stores Travel firm Thomas Cook will close 200 UK stores. Hundreds of jobs will be lost as a result of the store closure. The Scotsman
14/12/2011 DVLA to close 39 regional offices The Driver and Vehicle Licensing Agency (DVLA) will close 39 regional offices across the UK including Glasgow, Edinburgh, Aberdeen, Dundee and Inverness. The offices are expected to close by the end of 2013. Around 1,200 staff now face being made redundant. The Scotsman
