P1/2 pupils had a surprise when they arrived back at school on Monday. The chestnut and button white mushrooms that we had planted three weeks ago had started to push through the soil and by today we had enough ready to harvest and eat. The children sliced them and added them to pizzas as a topping. When they came out of the oven they smelt delicious and tasted even better at our picnic outdoors in the beautiful sunshine. We have another crop of mushrooms which we are caring for so hopefully these will be successful too! We are also growing potatoes, strawberrries and a variety of herbs.
