Little People of the World Olympic Project
Today our Parent Council displayed the school’s ‘Little People of the World’ Olympic art project. Each class created a ‘little person’ based on their Olympic country. Hopefully you’ll be able to spot primary two’s hard work amongst the many countries dislayed.
Olympic Presentations
Primary 2 have been following the Olympic Torch journey throughout the United Kingdom. Yesterday as the torch arrived in Edinburgh we gave a presentation on an Olympic topic of our choice. Ms Lewis thought the class deserved a gold medal for their hard work

We have been finding out about current Olympic Champions. We measured how far they have thrown, jumped and run using trundle wheels.

Monday 11th June – Olympic Ceremony!!
As part of our Olympics topic DPS will be having an official Olympics Opening Ceremony on Monday 11th June. Each class will parade their flags, olympic torches and attempt to sing part of their national anthem. Jubilee Picnic
Jubilee Picnic
On Friday morning during school the children will be attending a Jubilee Picnic. If you could send in a small drink and snack on Friday morning. Weather permitting we will assemble as a whole school at Hallhill and eat our picnic.
Please could your child come to school dressed in red, white and blue.
Primary 2 Minibeast Show
Primary 2 shared their learning about Minibeasts with both children and parents on Friday.
Here comes the sun!
P2c visited Butterfly World and went pond dipping at Inveresk yesterday. We discovered lots of minibeasts living in the pond and learned about food chains. In the afternoon we went to Butterfly World.

Our new classmates!
Ms Lewis discovered a new visitor when she arrived at school this morning. One of our butterflies had hatched! We put some grass and flowers into our observation tank with a little sugar and water. After observing them throughout the day we decided to let them out into the school garden at home time. The butterflies look like they were enjoying the sunshine and flowers.
Butterfly world… next week!
Primary 2 will be visiting butterfly world next week. Please remember to wear a waterproof jacket and sensible shoes. Bring a packed lunch with you and keep your fingers crossed for nice weather!

Primary 2 have been finding out about the journey of the Olympic Torch this week. Tomorrow it arrives in Lands End, Cornwall. We watched the animatioin below and named any well known landmarks in the United Kingdom

Minibeast madness continues in p2c
It has been a busy time in p2c over the last few weeks with many visitors!
Despite the weather we’ve been out in the rain looking for minibeasts with Mr Anderson.
We’ve examined snails, worms, tadpoles and caterpillars in our observation tanks. You can see below how some of our minibeasts are growing.

Well done to everyone in P2D who brought in their information about caterpillars and butterflies! Lots of people have been working very hard and produced some lovely things for the minibeast assembly. Please bring your work in by Friday if you would like the chance to share it with the class.

Dear Parents/Carers,
As part of our Minibeast topic we are going to be working in Research Groups. Your child has been given the following minibeast to research for Monday 14th May:
• P2C Bees
• P2E Beetles
• P2B Millipedes
• P2A Snails
• P2D Caterpillars & Butterflies
Our information will be presented as part of our minibeast assembly. Your child’s research can comprise of drawing, model, pictures, photos, artefacts, props and hand written fact by your child (no more than one paragraph).
We are looking forward to seeing their findings.
