A Huge Thank You!

I just want to take this opportunity to thank all the parents for their support throughout the year. I was overwhelmed with such kindness yesterday and I would like to express my very grateful thanks to everyone for their cards and gifts. I was so touched by the speech the children gave and all the effort that had been put into organising it.

P5D you have been a truly fantastic class. Your teamwork and caring attitudes towards one another has been outstanding and I have loved every minute of teaching you.

Wishing everyone a wonderful Summer Break.

Sporty P5′s

Primary 5 pupils will be exhausted after such a sporty week. Everyone looked fabulous, dressed to represent thier Olympic countries for our opening ceremony and the P5 Sports day on Thursday was great fun too. A huge well done to EVERY pupil in EVERY class for thier great efforts. Your teachers are very proud of you!!

P5 Basketball Festival!

On Monday all P5 pupils attended the Basketball Festival at Dunbar Grammar School. Once we got there we were all split into groups and mixed with pupils from both West Barns and Innerwick Primary. We had 6 stations that we all visited. All stations had activities which involved testing our own fitness, shooting and mini-basketball games!! All teams worked very well with each other and had a great day!!

We have been learning about the United States of America as part of our new topic – John Muir’s Travels. Today we used atlases to fill in all the states on a blank map of America. We also used our ICT time to research their capitals.

Primary 5′s Eggciting Day

P5a and P5D enjoyed a variety of Easter activities today. The Easter egg hunt was quite tricky but you all worked well in your teams to complete the course. We also enjoyed an afternoon of basket making and creating chocolate nests.

P5 Homework Update

We are pleased to welcome back P5A and P5D from their York
trip (P5C and P5B – the fun is still to come!)

Here is a quick reminder of homework tasks for the rest of
the term to help you get back into the swing.

Topic homework should be handed in on 9^th and 16^th
March with the maths homework due on 23^rd March.

A huge well done to everyone who took the time to explore
the activities suggested in the Meaningful Maths leaflet. The
feedback we have received on the games and websites in the leaflet has been extremely positive and we are very pleased to have been able to hand out so many certificates and awards throughout the fortnight.

Today we were celebrating Chinese New Year in Primary 5. We discussed traditions and made wonderful dragon puppets. We also enjoyed tasting noodles and prawn crackers. It was very hard using chopsticks, particularly during the game where we had to roll a dice and try to pick up skittles using them. To round off our celebration we each took home a “little red packet” cotaining a small treat.
