Appeal for school shoes

Nathan Robertson, an ex Dirleton pupil, is involved with a charity helping tribal Maasai children in rural Kenya and is currently collecting children’s shoes for a remote rural school in the Rift Valley. It is a Kenyan government requirement that school children wear uniforms and one of the most expensive parts is the compulsory black shoes. As every parent knows, children grow out of shoes very quickly and school shoes are beyond the financial means of most Maasai families. If you have any old boys’ or girls’ black shoes that you no longer need Nathan would be very grateful if you would hand them into school before the end of August. Your help would be much appreciated.

  1. The wear and tear on children’s school shoes is immense and poor quality school shoes can soon fall apart pretty quickly, especially if they are not made from a good quality material like leather.
