The S4 Standard Grade Maths Prelim have now all been returned. Each student should now have a better idea of their current ‘working at’ grade, as well as their action plan to reach the target grade in the summer. It is clear from the results that some students worked very hard for the prelims, but for others there is still a long way to go.
New materials are still being taught in all classes, and it is important that you top-up class work at home, even when formal home work is not set. It is probable that there will be further assessments in class time to try and ready all learners for the style of questioning expected and the pressure of working under exam conditions.
Every learner has access to a textbook or worksheets to aid revision, and each teacher has shared further relevant revision materials with their classes. Past papers can also be found on line at www.sqa.org – These are an invaluable way to revise and have the marking schemes too.
There are regular revision classes after school which you can attend, but these should be to suppliment your own revision, and work much better if you come with an idea of what you are struggling. Ask your class teacher which day is appropriate for you.
