Horticulture Modern Apprenticeship – The Royal Zoological Society of Scotland (Edinburgh Zoo)

The modern apprenticeship is open to 16-19 year olds (for those with dates of birth between 1 July 1994 and 30 June 1997) and offers a full time work programme of learning and qualifications.

Training: You will work towards a Modern Apprenticeship, which includes studying for an SVQ Level 2 in Amenity Horticulture at Oatridge College. This will be on a day release basis. You will also be taken through additional practical qualifications e.g. machinery operation and first aid training. RZSS Apprentices are also required to complete a diary of work carried out at Edinburgh Zoo and complete some practical based garden projects, in both years 1 and 2.

Salary:

Year 1: £5,850

Year 2: £7,140

You will be provided with protective clothing and any safety equipment required for the work you are doing.

Progression: On successful completion of your apprenticeship, you may have the opportunity to extend your training period for an additional two years to undertake an SVQ Level 3 horticultural qualification

Trainee Engineering Technician

David Narro Associates is a Structural and Civil Engineering Consultancy based in Edinburgh and they are looking for an enthusiastic Trainee Engineering Technician to join a team of Structural Engineering CAD Technicians in their busy Edinburgh office.

Training:

You will receive on the job training in Computer Aided Draughting using 2D and 3D draughting software packages to allow you to produce structural detailed drawings for projects. Training will also include working towards an HNC/D in Civil engineering on a day release basis.

Entry requirements:

2 Highers ideally in Maths and a science related subject

S Grade or Higher Graphic Communication

  • Filing of departmental correspondence in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Maintaining client administration records.
  • Downloading the client cash and month end statements from multiple custodian websites.
  • Data input for the monthly reconciliations using Eagle PACE.
  • Responsible for ensuring clients’ assets are fully reconciled against custodian records on a monthly basis.

  • Updating the Cash Checklist and maintaining monthly cash statistic data.
  • Minute taking for Client Administration meetings.
