We’re delighted to report that every child in the school received a book as part of the National Book Week event. We hope that they enjoy their books and are encouraged to read more often for pleasure.

The writing showcase on Tuesday was a great success. There were samples of children’s work from all classes on display. Our Writing Showcase Event will be on Tuesday 15th March from 6.30pm until 7.30pm. Parents will have the opportunity to see how writing is being delivered in the school and marvel at the variety of interesting experiences the children are being given. On World Book Day, a pink fairy appeared in our school. She said that she had lost her wand and the children were writing about how they could help her. The photos below are a few examples of some of the ideas.
Our pupils in Primary 7 had a fantastic opportunity to meet with Jacqueline Wilson in the recent BBC authors live session at the studios in Glasgow. To see a recording of highlights of the progamme, please click on the image of Jacqueline Wilson below.
Today, three girls in P4 shared their stories with the rest of the school. The were reading their own work and this was broadcast on our secure schools Glow intranet. The children in other classes were able to link into their broadcast and do have some photos of their stories for you to look at.

It is book week in school next week. From Monday 8th November to Friday 12th November there will be a variety of book related activities going on throughout school including the readathon. Please check the blog again to see what classes have been up to.
Congratulations to Callum in P6 for winning one of the top prizes in West Lothian’s Young Writer of the Year competition. He will now attend a prize winning ceremony at Howden Park Centre with his parents and teacher.
