Deans Primary School Get Cooking

Recenlty Deans Primary School won a prestigious national competition.  The primary 4 class submittedan entry to Active Kids Get Cooking 2010.  Classes from all over the country entered the comptetition and the entries were of  “a particularly high standard”.  The primary 4 class from Deans was the Scottish Primary School winner and they now go on to the National Finals in London where an outright winner will be announced.

Their entry involved designing and then cooking a nutritious meal from left-over food in the fridge.  The class teacher and pupil support worker supported the children in their efforts.  The emphasis was on reducing food waste and producing a well balanced meal.  They used their ICT skills to present their work using “Comic Life” software to show the steps they took in creating the winning entry.  They also included quotes from parents and children illustrating the broad learning which took place.
