“I was relieved that many of the of the skills involved (in coaching) are also used in teaching. I found lots of the ideas fascinating and thought provoking and by the end of day 1 I felt positive and excited about the way forward”

There were also reports of increased motivation and refocused approach to managing time and energy.

This page is to help coaches find people to coach and vice versa, if you’re looking for someone to coach you, look no further…

We have a number of coaches that would like to offer their coaching skills out to colleagues in schools and the centre. The coaching agenda would be set by yourself and could cover any professional issue – e.g. assertiveness, dealing with a difficult situation, workload, etc. Everyone is different and there are as many options as there are people. You can see from the quotes above how other East Lothian colleagues have found this a really helpful and fulfilling exercise personally and a useful tool to help cope with hectic working lives.

It is also possible to put together CPD to look at how coaching can be used in your context, for example using coaching to make PRDs more effective.

If you are interested in being a coachee please contact the Staff Development Team at staffdevelopment.ecs@eastlothian.gov.uk
