Do you know a young person aged 11 to 26 years who has made a positive difference to the lives of others? Nominations for the Sunday Mail Young Scot Awards 2013 are now open at: http://www.quaydigitalscotland.co.uk/sites/events/a_young_scot/. Has a young person you know been involved in improving their local community? Have they made a positive difference to the lives of others? Nominations are accepted from groups as well as individuals, so maybe you know of a youth group or project whose achievements deserve to be recognised and celebrated? You only have until midnight on the 17th February to share your inspirational stories, which truly reflect Scotland’s outstanding young people. There are 11 different categories in which you can nominate: . Sport (sponsored by sportscotland) . Volunteering . The Arts . Community (sponsored by The Scottish Government) . Heritage Hero (sponsored by Historic Scotland) . Health . Unsung Hero . Enterprise (sponsored by Scottish Gas) . Entertainment . Cultural Diversity (sponsored by Young Scot) . Environment (sponsored by Scottish Gas) The Young Scot Awards aims to recognise and celebrate the amazing achievements of Scotland’s young people to help challenge negative perceptions, we too often hear about. Three finalists in each of the 11 categories will be invited to the glittering awards ceremony at the Glasgow Crowne Plaza Hotel (VIP Gala Dinner) and Clyde Auditorium (Award Ceremony) on the 19th April 2013. How To Attend Due to the huge demand for tickets in previous years, we are making exciting changes to the format of the event so more people than ever have the opportunity to attend the Young Scot Awards! The Awards dinner has now been separated from the Awards ceremony. The dinner is for finalists, friends and invited guests only, and will take place at the Crowne Plaza Hotel in Glasgow. But the Awards ceremony will take place at the Clyde Auditorium and be a ticketed, red-carpet event. The ceremony will allow guests to watch the full Awards show, as well as see entertainment from big name acts. It will be bursting at the seams with stars, celebrities and VIPs. And, perhaps most excitingly of all, highlights of the Awards show will also be televised on STV for the first time ever. This change of format gives the opportunity for more guests to see the Awards ceremony take place, as well as meaning we can reach more people than ever before with the amazing stories of young people’s achievements and contributions, helping to promote a more positive perception of young Scots. Tickets will cost £30 and can be purchased online at http://www.ticketsoup.com/default.aspxor by calling 0844 395 4000. Young Scot National Entitlement Card (NEC) holders are eligible for a £5 discount. Please note ticket prices do not include booking fee. Don’t forget you can keep up to date with all the latest news on Twitter by following the hashtag #YSAwards or via Facebook at www.facebook.com/youngscotawards

In order to do this they’re putting together a national strategy to make sure that everyone gets their chance to shine, so they are working in partnership with Young Scot to speak to young people across the country to find out their views. The unique perspectives of young people will help shape the strategy.
