Scotland’s Commissioner for Children and Young People (SCCYP) is seeking to appoint a Receptionist/Administration Officer. In this role, you will support the Office Manager in the efficient running of the Commissioner’s Office and provide administrative and secretarial support as required. Key tasks will include managing the reception desk, recording mail, organising meetings, booking staff travel and assisting with events. The successful applicant will also be required to cover for the Assistant to the Commissioner during periods of absence.
You must be committed, enthusiastic and energetic. You should be able to operate in an open plan office, in a flexible working environment and on a diverse range of tasks. You should be able to demonstrate sound judgement, able to act on your own initiative and prioritise your own workload. A minimum of 3 SCE Standard or Ordinary Grades including English or prior experience in reception or administrative work is essential. You should also be supportive of the work of the Commissioner’s office in promoting and safeguarding the rights of children and young people.
You will have a good working knowledge of Windows, Microsoft office and other associated packages. You should also have excellent administrative and organisational skills as well as written and oral communication skills. Experience of working with children and young people is desirable but not essential.
