Summer Holidays are Here!

:) After a very, very busy month of June, suddenly it was the end of term yesterday! Boys and girls, I hope you have all had a nice lie-in and are planning to get out into the sunshine to play today?

Obviously we did LOTS of cool and exciting things in June which I have not added to this blog yet… We were just so busy!! Sorry! I am off on my holidays in a few hours so I can’t do it today, but please visit the site again after the 14th July and I’ll add loads of photos and posts about our Book Shop picnic, our Secret Student trip to Vogrie, our Open Day and many other things then. :)

Thank you very, very much for my amazing P5c Book and all the lovely cards and gifts yesterday. :) Have a brilliant summer holiday and Good Luck Marcus with your piano exam today :) :) We know you can do it!

How We Hear

Today we have started learning about SOUND. We have reviewed what we learned in our Music In Action workshop: Sound is caused by vibrations, it travels in waves, and moves through gases, liquids and solids differently.

For today’s ICT suite activity, please use these two websites:

http://kidshealth.org/kid/htbw/ears.html and http://www.childrensuniversity.manchester.ac.uk/interactives/science/brainandsenses/ear.asp

Use the websites to help you list the steps in how we hear sounds and to label the diagram of the ear. Happy reading! :)

Musselburgh Museum Visit

Last Wednesday we were Mr Fairnie’s special guests as the first ever class to visit the new Musselburgh Museum. It was really interesting and there was loads to see and read about, even though it wasn’t a big place.
Boys and girls -I’d like you to write some comments here to tell everyone what we did and what we enjoyed about our visit :)

Testing testing!

Today we trialled the first drafts of our wonderful stories by reading them to our friends in P2. Just like last time, we split up between our two classrooms and everyone found somewhere to sit together and enjoy a story! It was so exciting to share our stories with P2 and they all seemed to enjoy listening to them very much. They gave us some useful information about how we could improve the stories and what we might make our characters look like in the final book. :) Thank you P2s!

P5c Publishing Gets to Work!

Wow! What a busy day! P5c Publishing was a buzz of great ideas today and we are very proud of the wonderful stories that we have written!

Some P2 pupils came to visit us this afternoon and we were able to read them little sneak previews of our storybooks so far, and tomorrow we will be visiting them to read our first drafts and get their feedback.

Today we practised reading our stories aloud to each other. We are all VERY excited about tomorrow!! :)
