Campie’s Got Talent – The Final

What a fantastic night we all had at Portobello Town Hall last night – and a massive congratulations to the winner of Campie’s Got Talent 2012 Ellen Brown fom P7a.

All 14 acts were totally amazing, and every single one is a winner. Well done to all 25 children who took part – what an amazingly talented bunch of kids we have at Campie.

Ellen was the star of the show, and walked away with the Campie’s Got Talent trophy and £50 cash prize.

A huge thank you from everyone to all the fundraising team, but Sally Findlay in particular who stage manages the show every year. This event could not happen without Sally’s hard work and sheer determination to make it succeed. Well done Sally.

Another huge thank you has to go to our new head Catriona McKinnon, who agreed to host the show without knowing what a massive task lay ahead. Ms McKinnon did an absolutely superb job and made the night flow smoothly as well as calmed the nerves of many anxious kids.

The night belonged to all 25 pupils – they are all total stars and have to keep on entertaining.

We are hoping to produce and sell a DVD and photoraphs from the event, so watch this space!

We will let everyone know how much money was raised, and as usual, this will be split between the school library and the rice fund.

Campie’s Got Talent

What a wonderful afternoon we are having in school today watching all of our talented individuals take part in auditions for Campie’s Got Talent.  The expert panel of judges have been treated to a wonderful variety of acts and all of the children involved should feel very proud of their achievements!

Well done everyone and a huge thank you to all of the parents who have put such effort into planning for this afternoon.

Now those of you who couldn’t come can see the action. I’m sorry it’s taken me so long to post the photos online.

And at Tuesday’s assembly this week, we are going to enjoy The Best of the Rest. We’ve invited all the acts that didn’t make it to the final to perform for the rest of the school… if they want to.  What a great way to end term.

Luke wins Campie’s Got Talent 2011

Published by under Campie's Got Talent

Luke held us all spellbound as he played guitar and sang his way to winning Campie’s Got Talent 2011.   All 12 finalists entertained a superb audience of 550 people with song, dance and comedy.    It was a wonderful evening as many people commented at the interval and as they left.  But the night was Luke’s. Congratulations, Luke.

Campie’s Got Talent is at Porty Town Hall at 7pm

Published by under Campie's Got Talent

I’m sure you must all know this as it’s been on the website, in countless letters and we’ve told all the children but Campie’s Got Talent is at PORTOBELLO TOWN HALL (not the Brunton) at 7pm on Saturday 19 March 2011.  Break a leg performers! (but not the staff performers, we can’t afford that!)

Campie’s Got Talent – the finals Portobello Town Hall, Saturday, March 19.

Published by under Campie's Got Talent

We have had a really busy afternoon of auditions for our CGT final, and a big thank you to three of our four judges who turned up and faced the difficult decision of choosing this year’s finalists. The judges were Andrew Usher from the Brunton panto, music legend Bruce Findlay and our very own police officer Dougie Smith.

All the judges agreed that the standard this year was really high, and have urged anyone who didn’t get through to try again next year.

The 12 acts going through to this year’s final at Portobello Town Hall are:
The Fiery Flingers – Eilidh Henderson and Louisa Hunt
Rap and Remix – Amy Sim and Leah Bisset
Emily Cormack and Ellen Brown
Masterchef – Jamie McNeilly and Murray Colville
Sisters – Imogen and Livvy Allen
The Cornet Queen – Joy Archer
Chiara and Sophia Lynch
Brydance – Bryan Lamb
Luke Hunter
BBC News – Blair Hay and Matthew Crane
The Katy Perry Girls – Rebecca Gatner and Lauren Curry
Alistair  Clyne

Thank you to everyone who took part – you were all amazing!

Tickets will be on sale from Monday. A form will come home in the kids school bags on Monday, or write your name, child’s name and class, number of tickets wanted, and contact number or email address on an envelope with the cash inside. Tickets cost £3 each.

Sales are first come first served! So get your order in asap.

Proceeds will go to new trimtrail bars, the library and the children’s boarding houses from CDC.

Campie’s Got Talent – auditions on Friday

Published by under Campie's Got Talent

It may be a bit late in the day, but we know from last year just how much talent we have at Campie school. Any dancers, singers, comedians or anyone else who has a talent still has time to come forward and audition. Our three judges on Friday are the loveliest people ever, and are keen to see as many people as possible. So get your audition slips in as soon as possible – you could easily be one of the lucky ones to perform at the final.

Campie’s Got Talent update

Published by under Campie's Got Talent

I hope you’ve all been rehearsing over the holiday ready for the auditions on Friday 25 February 2011. If you haven’t already handed your audition slip in, please do so BY MONDAY 21 FEB! We have to give everyone a time slot so that no one is hanging around all afternoon, this means we need enough time to be able to draw up the spreadsheets.

If you’ve lost your form, you can print another one from here or just write your name, class, act and a contact number (mobile if possible) and please remember that if your form is handed in late, it will take time for us to process it. For any queries email campieparentcouncil@yahoo.com  or text 07890 316775 and keep checking this website for updates.

Anyone auditioning should go to the dining room before their allotted time and wait to be shown into the library where all auditions will be held. Acts are responsible for bringing their own instruments, music CDs and props. We have a piano at the school, but there is no piano at Portobello Town Hall.

For those who get through to the final at Portobello Town Hall on Saturday, March 19, we will try and take you around Portobello Town Hall before the performance.

Good luck everyone.
