Campie Fundraising Team are East Lothian Inspiring Volunteers Team of the Year 2011.
We are so proud to announce that our Fundraising Group won East Lothian Inspiring Volunteer Team of the Year 2011 tonight at an award ceremony at Jewel and Esk Valley College. They were presented with the award by Alan Blackie, Chief Executive of East Lothian Council. Mrs Clarke and I nominated them and this is a part of our submission. We’ll get a photo tomorrow with their cup. Well done, everyone. We appreciate all you do and all your families free you to do for Campie children.
Campie Parent Fundraising Group began in Autumn 2009 in response to a school stakeholder survey, in which parents and children called for improvements to the school grounds. The playground was bare and undeveloped. The tarmac was breaking up and very sore to fall on. A group of women regrouped as Campie Parent Fundraising Group with the aim of raising money to improve the playground. Within 8 months, they had worked tirelessly to enable Campie to raise £30,000 and transform Campie Playground to the great delight of the children and parents. Their own families have had to take a backseat or be dragged into helping, as the group meticulously planned and produced a series of amazing events.
However the real magic of this group has lain in the way they have built a strong sense of community within Campie and that is why we are nominating them.
Campie community is a far richer place because of the graft, dedication, creativity and enthusiasm the Campie Parent Fundraising Group bring us all. What a volunteer team!
