P4B class news

Published by under P4

The Easter holidays are over (thank you to the PTA for the chocolate eggs), the Royal Wedding has been and gone (wasn’t she beautiful?), summer is nearly upon us … but we still have a lot to pack in before the end of term.

On Wednesday, last week, both P4 classes were invited to a rugby festival held at Pinkie Primary School. Four schools were involved: Campie, Pinkie, Loretto RC and Stoneyhill. The children were divided into teams (some teams were made up of children from the four schools) and played tag rugby (a follow-on from their rugby taster sessions earlier in the year). First off, the boys played their games whilst the girls did warm up and skills activities, then they changed over. It was a beautiful morning, but a little chilly for spectators, aka teachers and parents! All the children enjoyed being outside and enjoying the fresh air. Our walk to and from Pinkie primary was exercise enough. Again, a big THANK YOU to our parent helpers :-)

On Thursday the children, who chose to have a school lunch, enjoyed a Royal Wedding celebratory lunch. They were given a special crown to wear and a poster of the happy couple. P4B made commemorative plates to celebrate the wedding and understand the meaning of memorabilia.

We have started our Pow Wow topic on Native Americans. Shona, from East Lothian Expressive Arts Services, will be joining us on Tuesday for a drama workshop. We will have three weeks of drama, some dance, a day of art, then a sharing day with Pencaitland Primary in June. If any parents have any information that they could share in relation to this topic, it would be most welcome.
