Lucky by Roger McGough

Roger McGough is one of Britain’s best-loved poets. He is known for his performance poetry and his latest offering, Lucky, does not disappoint.
As you might expect for the man described as the ‘Patron Saint of Poetry’ (by Carol Ann Duffy), the collection of poems bursts with wit, wordplay and the occasional flash of wisdom.
It is a great book to dip into with both long poems (like the poem that gives the book its name, that reads more like a short story) and some clever short verses like Cobblers:
“Footing the Bill”
is the name of the shop
that repairs the boots
of the British cop.
Roger McGough’s illustrations are nice too!
